„Slimming down“ now – with EJOT®!

Industrial fasteners-specialist supports lightweight construction strategies in the plastics area

K Fair - Düsseldorf 27.10. - 03.11.2010

Hall 05, Stand C03

The trend subject „lightweight construction“ is one of the central starting points of across business research- and development activities of many companies. That way, for example, lightweight construction concepts will be of crucial importance in the automotive-area for the adherence to future CO2-limit values. Therefore, for future applications of self-tapping fasteners for plastics, the lightweight construction applicability of the used industrial fasteners elements will be of particular importance. Also the EJOT DELTA PT® Screw, for many years the criterion for secure and easy self-tapping for plastics, here underlies, on the lines of the used material, these new demands.

One possibility to support the different lightweight construction concepts of the customers is the DELTA PT® Screw due to its outstanding industrial fastening capability in reducing the used dimensions. In addition to that in many application fields even a reduction of the bolting points can be carried out. These measures in sum contribute non-insignificantly to the weight reduction. If an even higher exploiting of weight reduction-potentials are mentioned in the performance specification of the customer’s product development, a variation in the choice of material of industrial fastener elements can lead to the desired effect. Many dimensions of the DELTA PT® can be manufactured from aluminium instead of steel.

The last evolution level of innovative material use from the point of view of EJOT’s industrial fasteners specialists is the DELTA PT® Screw made of plastic. The industrial fastener elements made of the thermoplastic construction material Grivory HTV-5H1 with 50% fibre glass offers the same industrial fastening security in comparison with screws made of metal but with a much higher potential for weight reduction. Therefore, a plastic screw with similar dimensions is up to 85% lighter than its counterpart made of steel.

A predestined implementation example of this novel industrial fastener element in the automotive area is the fastening of an instrument panel. In combination with the slip-on plastic-nut-element EJOT EASYboss® V, a special industrial fastener element for thin walled assemblies and along the lines of the new DELTA PT® Screw performed as a metal replacement product, in this individual case all at this point available weight reduction potentials in the industrial fasteners division can be fully exploited.

A demonstration of the special lightweight construction applicability of this new EJOT industrial fasteners made of plastic, DELTA PT® and EASYboss® V, will take place at this year’s „K“ from October 27th till November 3rd in Düsseldorf, hall 05, booth C03.
