EJOT DELTA PT® DS

For secure direct assembly into thermoset materialsFor many years the EJOT DELTA PT® screw has been the standard for secure and trouble-free direct assembly into plastics. Because of its special thread geometry it offers high reliability, especially for thermoplastic materials - even under difficult conditions and for complex designs. |
|
Analysis of future applications for direct assembly into plastics has clearly shown that other materials will increasingly become an alternative, even if they were not a focus of fastening technology before. In particular thermoset materials will often replace other materials, mainly for reasons of weight reduction. For example in the automotive field, intelligent light weight construction concepts will become a decisive factor for the compliance with CO2 limits. One trend in motor engineering is the so-called "downsizing", where up to two turbochargers "force" extra oxygen into the reduced cubic capacity of the motor. For weight reasons the casings of these turbochargers are sometimes made from thermoset materials instead of light metal. |

The secure and durable connection of these highly stressed components, places high demands on the used fastening elements. On the basis of the proven DELTA PT® screw the EJOT application experts developed the DELTA PT® DS with a special thread design, which makes it particularly suitable for the most demanding self-tapping screw joints with thermoset materials. And not only for the automotive field: this innovative screw is optimised for all designs that place especially high demands on direct assembly due to the hardness and brittleness of the used material.
The thread form "DS" (Duro Set) is the key for the solution of these complicated demands on fastening technology. The EJOT DELTA PT® DS design has special grooves added to the proven DELTA PT® thread geometry, which enable optimum forming of the female thread. These grooves are pronounced at the screw point and taper off towards the screw head. The newly developed thread forming zone permits a low installation torque and a high stripping torque, so direct assembly with the DELTA PT® DS reliably prevents breaking of the screw channel.
Advantages of the EJOT DELTA PT® DS screw at a glance:
- Secure and reliable connection for thermoset materials
- Savings potential through standardisation:
– just one type of screw for thermoplastics and thermoset materials
-
Easy assembly due to good alignment of the screw
- Lower hole depths can be realised unlike for screws with a milled cutting edge
- Increased flank coverage with same installation depth compared to screws with a milled cutting edge
