The winners of the Automotive Supplier of the Year 2010 Award were selected after evaluating the data of the 900 largest Continental Automotive suppliers worldwide using defined criteria in the quality, technology, logistics, costs, and conditions of purchase categories. The individual prizes were awarded in various material categories

The quality of the over nine billion parts that Continental receives from its suppliers every month plays a key role in helping the Automotive Group achieve its goals in the global marketplace. The Group had purchased raw materials, components, and development support from over 4,000 suppliers around the world worth a total of €9.5 billion this year. A quarter of the purchasing volume relates to electronics, a proportion that will continue to rise strongly over the coming years.

Continental Automotive's head of purchasing, Günter Fella emphasized the high standard of quality that Continental sets for its products, and appealed to the suppliers to do their best to support the company in achieving these quality aims: on the one hand by playing an active role in Continental's development projects, on the other by striving to ensure reliability within their own organizations in terms of product quality and delivery quantities.
